TRICK OR TREAT!

Wow, summer really flew by this year. I guess I took my annual summer trips a little later in the season, and when I got back from vacationing, it was Autumn! I've been busy with my work, too, so I apologize for not getting in touch with you sooner. Now that October is here, there's a real nip in the air, isn't there?

I'm starting to think about bundling into my warm sweaters and drinking hot chocolate. I truly relish the excitement that comes with each change in the seasons. I think one of the really nice things about having a dog is that it gets you out and about a little bit each day when you take him for a walk, and it gives you the opportunity, if even for a few minutes, to escape the phones, the climate-controlled air temperature, and get out in nature to feel a little bit of coolness or dampness that we might otherwise eschew in our desire to "get on with things."

The lateness of the season finally registered with me last week when my next door neighbors put out their "Spooktacular" Halloween doormat and positioned little pumpkin stickers on their window. I'm reminded that Halloween is fast approaching and that Kera needs a costume!

Whether you're one of the people that dresses up in a costume and turns your house haunted for one special night in October, or whether you treat the 31st as a "no excuse needed" day for eating candy, one thing is sure, your dog will know something exciting is afoot!

Don't leave your dog out of the fun! I've put together a page of great Halloween Dog Costumes for your furry friend to peruse! Some of these costumes are absolutely adorable, and there are several available for under $5 for the whole costume!

Kera got so excited last year when she dressed up as a soldier in some green Army fatigues. Not only did she enjoy running around the house in clothes (she probably thought she was grown-up enough to turn into a human and wear clothes like Mom!) but she was an absolute HIT with the kids that came by for candy - especially the little ones who were too afraid to say "trick or treat" to a scary lady like me!

I'm on the South Beach Diet now, so I won't be indulging in much candy this year, but I will still be making the most out of the holiday by getting Kera all dressed up to treat the neighborhood with a fun canine trick!

Even if you're not sure you want to dress up your dog for Halloween this year, you should still check out the funny Halloween dog costume pictures on this page. Have you ever seen a dog in a hula skirt before!

If you do decide to dress your dog up, PLEASE send me the pictures! :) I would love to see what kind of hyjinx you and your dog dream up this year!

P.S. Don't let the decision on whether to offer your aging pet medical treatment be a financial one. More and more pet owners around the country are investing in pet medical insurance to ensure their pet receives the very best treatments modern medicine has available!
