Baby, it's cold outside - Keep your dog warm January 27, 2009 |
| Greetings Fellow Dog Lover! It is mid-January and we just had a light snow today and over the weekend! This cold snap is unusual for Seattle which is known for it's mild maritime climate. I was just out shoveling my driveway, when I noticed the body builder neighbors next door. Yes, my neighbors are body builders. There's a guy who's a real hulk and goes around wearing tank tops (even in the winter!) that show off his muscles. The girlfriend is the blond-pony-tale type who you'd expect to be teaching your aerobics class, if you were disciplined enough (I'm not!) to go to one. She's the type that always knows JUST what to wear, and it looks good on her! Well, you are no doubt unsurprised to learn that her DOG knows just what to wear, as well. In this case, it was a turquoise blue dog sweater that went around her front and back legs. It had a while/silver band around the middle like a belt. It looked great on her little white Bichon and the dog was warm enough to run all around the cul-de-sac in the snow before jumping into the car to drive away (probably to the gym). If you have been struggling with figuring out how to keep your dog warm and fashionable this year, a dog sweater might be just the right solution. My Grandma Mary has put together a book of classy dog sweater patterns that you might want to take a look at if you know how to knit! They are a lot of fun to stitch up and you can customize them to be the perfect color or fit for your dog. Just click here to read about our dog sweater patterns. These have been really popular this year! Where has Emily Been?On a more personal note, some of you have been wondering why I haven't been writing to the E-zine lately. The reason is that I've had a baby! Baby Blake was born in May 2008 and he is a darling little angel who keeps my SUPER BUSY! For some reason before he was born, I imagined my son would play with blocks quietly on the floor for hours while I worked on the website. Experienced parents will giggle and shake their heads - that is NOT how babies work, I am quickly learning. It's hard to believe that my son is almost 8 months old! He just learned to crawl over Christmas time (while my husband and I both had terrible colds!) and now he is already pulling up on the couch. He uses is mouth to help him get up there which is a little messy, but his father and I are sufficiently infatuated that we let it go! For the dog lovers who also love babies, here is a link of Blake learning to crawl! Baby Blake Crawling Video. Warmly, Emily P.S. Here's that link for the dog sweater patterns ebook.
