Bayer Advantage For Cats Stops Fleas Dead!

Bayer Advantage for cats is a topical flea control product that compliments a variety of natural flea control strategies. If you are considering the best way to get rid of fleas on your cat, you've probably considered a number of options...

Here's what other folks are doing to get rid of fleas on their cats or in their houses.

  • Look for and remove fleas on your cat by combing through her fur.
  • You can also use a flea and tick shampoo.
  • Give your cat an oral supplement like brewer's yeast.
  • Try flea drops such as Advantage or Frontline for cats.

In doing research for this article, I looked at some product reviews for Advantage and found that 64 out of 64 reviewers gave the product 4-5 stars (out of a total of 5 possible).

The same site's Frontline plus reviews were slightly less positive. The chief complaint seemed to be that Frontline wasn't getting rid of all the fleas. It's possible that the Frontline didn't work well because it has been "overused" in certain areas where fleas are very common year round, and the fleas are not as strongly affected by it any more. If you have trouble with one flea control method not being effective, you can try another and most likely get better results. Even if you've had bad results with one product, it would not be a good idea to double-dose and apply a second application of flea control (same or different brand) before the first one has had its 30 days to wear off.

In my experience, Frontline has been an effective flea control product, but according to product reviews - Bayer Advantage for cats seems to be more uniformly popular for cat owners.

Whether or not you go with Bayer Advantage for cats as your flea control medicine of choice, it's important to use it following the package instructions (apply every month) and also keep your living quarters and pet's bedding clean to reduce flea breeding habitat.

As with any new medication, there's always a risk your pet will have a bad reaction, so be sure to keep an eye on your cat for signs of itching, irritation or allergy when you apply your flea drops.

So, I would recommend choosing a smart flea control product, like in addition to getting rid of flea eggs and habitat in your home. These methods in combination should keep your cats and you itch-free!
