Select a Great Dog Bed
Just for Your Dog!

No matter what size, shape, age or breed of your dog, he needs a good-quality, chew-proof dog bed to rest in. Some people let their dogs sleep with them in their own bed, but most dogs will feel more comfortable if they have one or more beds of their own throughout the house where they can rest comfortably throughout the day and night.

Temperature Regulated Beds

If your dog spends most of his time outdoors or in an unheated kennel, basement, or garage, he might particularly benefit from a heated or cooled mattress for his bed to keep him comfortable during extreme weather conditions. Heavy coated breeds especially will enjoy lying on a cool bed during the warm summer months. In addition to increasing your dog's comfort you may increase your own since your dog won't have to park himself right over or under your air conditioner vents anymore!

Best Bed: Cooling and Therapeutic!

Canine Cooler

Technology is amazing! Now you can get a puncture-proof, fluid-filled bed which is soft, easy to clean and pest resistant. This cooling pet bed offers support for dogs with calluses, bad hips or elbows, and because it is fluid-filled, it is great at reducing a dog's body temperature in hot weather. In cool weather, your dog can still take advantage of the excellent support this bed provides if you simply cover the bed with a thick towel or bed cover.

Hammock or Sling Bed

If he's just looking for a comfortable place to get off the hard ground, a relaxing hammock style bed might be just the thing. This keeps him away from floor level drafts and prevents calluses and wear on joints that sleeping or resting on a hard surface can sometimes cause. In addition, hammock-style Karunda beds are very chew resistant. The dog can't get to the fabric to destroy it without going through a thick piece of frame.

Cushion/Mattress Bed

Maybe you just have an ordinary dog with ordinary bedding needs. If you're looking for just a nice standard dog bed, you have a lot of different options. The thing to keep in mind with this style of bed is whether or not it is chew-proof, and how easy it is to launder.

I would recommend a color or pattern that doesn't show dog hair, since a lot of it will be collecting on this bed! Light colored fabric for a light haired breed, and darker material for a dark dog.

Crate or Kennel Bed

I highly recommend using a crate or kennel as a first dog bed for any dog new in your house. They're also required equipment for all puppies and recommended for adopted/rescue adult dog, it will help the dog acclimatize right away to your housebreaking schedule (See potty training article) and it will make him feel that he has a safe shelter away from children, noises, and other pets in the event that he feels overwhelmed and needs to retreat for a while.

As an added bonus, crates make a great traveling bed. If your dog is going with you in the car or truck, you can pack him in his crate so that he will feel safe and also be safe in the event of sudden stops, we won't be flying through the windshield because he was sitting on your lap, he'll be secured in his crate elsewhere in the car.

they're also great to give a dog a sense of comfort when you take him with you to hotels, friends houses, or anywhere he might be able to go, but have to be restrained during some part of the day.

If you want a good quality dog crate, you can find one at any large pet supply store, but often you can get a better quality dog kennel, a discounted price or more selection, if you purchase online.
