Which Flea and Tick Spray is Best? Frontline? Advantage? K-9 Advantix?

Flea and Tick SprayYou've probably thought about selecting a good flea and tick spray for your dog or cat, but hesitated due to concerns about costs, medication side effects or whether the flea killer would work at getting rid of your pet's parasites.

Although I started out using a name brand flea and tick spray, I switched to an off-brand product to see if I could save some money. It WAS cheaper, but it was not a good value because the product simply didn't work.

I had never thought fleas were that big of a deal since I had an indoor pet, until one day I was sitting there rubbing her back and noticed fleas crawling through her fur!!! You don't need that to happen more than once before you're reaching for your Advantage flea products, or some other flea and tick spray, let me tell you!

In fact, when this happened to me with my guide dog puppy, Kera - I suddenly made flea and tick control a big priority. I asked our local Guide Dog Program coordinators what I should do, and they recommended Frontline Plus for dogs.

When we bought the Frontline, we put it on Kera and the next day, I did not find any fleas on her.

The way the Frontline flea drops work is that you get a dropper bottle and you just drop some of the flea killer along their back-bone and it is absorbed into the skin and stays effective all month, even if you wash your dog or he goes swimming.

I was really glad I had used the medicine. After that I didn't worry about taking Kera to the park, or on long walks through the woods.

I was still pretty diligent about looking for ticks on Kera after we walked in the woods, but I didn't find any. After a while, my husband and I were more worried about the ticks getting on us than on our dog.

We had it all figured out, we liked our flea and tick spray, and it was working and life was good.

Then my cheap-bone kicked in and I figured if flea control was so easy, why pay more?

We used it, and the fleas came back. For whatever reason, that flea and tick spray just did not work worth a darn.

From there on out, I had *really* learned my lesson, and we just kept life easy, and stuck with Frontline flea killer.

That being said, there are a number of other flea killers out there that you can try.
