Foam Memory Dog Beds
Are foam memory dog beds right for your pets? Dog beds made of memory foam are one of the most
popular, supportive sleeping surfaces around. Memory foam, which was invented by NASA, is a
very supportive surface, perfect for pet beds. It is also used for pillows and mattresses for
people-beds, so don't be jealous!
A more comfortable bed
The memory foam in dog beds conforms to your dog's body shape and offers consistent, stable support
in areas of both heavy and light pressure. Some areas of the mattress may support
the bulk of your dog's weight - under his torso, for example. These areas are supported just as
evenly and comfortably as the areas under the
dog's head or feet, which need only light support. This evenly supportive characteristic of memory foam
eliminates "pressure points" created by some dog bedding materials which can
cause soreness, tossing and turning, and otherwise create less restful sleeping conditions for your pet.
Foam memory dog beds are created out of a foam-type material with open cells which trap the air.
This trapped air creates an insulating cushion around your dog which helps regulate his temperature
while he's in bed. He stays warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer, ensuring that the bed is
comfortable for your dog year round.
What to Look For
If you are interested in purchasing a dog bed made of memory foam, be sure to look for one that
has a removable, washable cover. In my experience, hair is very difficult to remove from foam, so
it's best to try to prevent the two from coming into contact in the first place. Prices range from
$60 for a small bed to $200 for a large bed so shop around and make sure you're getting a good price!
