Small Dog Sweaters

Small Dog Sweaters are a great fashion accessory for any little dog! Although all dogs can enjoy wearing clothes and making a statement, dog sweaters seem to be most common on little dogs. Is it because they look the cutest in them?

When deciding on the right small dog sweaters for your furry bundle of fun, consider the time of year your dog will be wearing the sweater. In cold climates, sweaters serve a very important function for short-coated breeds, or dogs who are indoors most of the time. Small dogs can have trouble retaining their body heat and if they're accustomed to a warm environment, they won't have the thick coat an outdoor dog would naturally acquire to withstand colder temperatures.

We've all seen little dogs shivering when they venture out in the cold. Don't let yours be one of these. Dress him up in a snuggly little dog sweater and let him enjoy his excursions out on the town. You and he will both enjoy the attention!

Of course, your pup can still enjoy small dog sweaters even if he doesn't live in a frigid clime, or if he just wants to be fashionable year-round. When choosing his outfit, though, remember that dogs body temperatures are naturally about 10 degrees warmer than our own. You don't want to bundle him up so much that he's uncomfortably hot.

Instead, look for light, airy fabrics like cotton that are easy to launder and breathe well. In addition, styles other than sweaters, such as hats, shirts and dresses can be another way to make a statement without being as warm and confining.

Whatever type of outfit you decide on for your dog, expect that he will take some time to get used to it. But the results will be worth it in the gratification he receives when everyone wants to pet him as he struts his stuff in his new duds!
